Frankie Rose and the Outs! →
OH, FUCK YES! Yes yes a thousand times yes. Frankie Rose has a new project called Frankie Rose and the Outs. Debut 7” on Slumberland on October 27th.
I wish every day came with news this good.
High Places - “Late Bloomer”
Eleven minutes of solid ethereal goodness right here. Mary Pearson is undoubtedly one of my favorite singers from the last few years—technically her voice is not good, but man if it isn’t perfect.
Cookie-Eating Competition Set for August 28th
nullisnotzero:
You heard it here first, folks. I’m setting the date for the E.L. Fudge Cookie Eating Competition for SOMETIME AFTER (KAY!) August 28th, 2009 (unless nobody is going to be around, in which case it’ll just be me clearing 20 packs of these things and like 4 gallons of milk).
We’ve got some great competitors, and it’ll also be the last house party going down at my current...
Girls - “Lust For Life”
I can’t wait for this record. I still don’t understand why this song’s B-Side (“Morning Light”) isn’t the single they’re pushing, but hey, I’ll take whatever these dudes throw my way.
Also, I really do wish I had a pizza and a bottle of wine right now.

Picking up the keys on Friday!
Nice! We are actually gonna be moving next month, too. Our new place? 21st and Stark. NEIGHBORS!
I just realized that most of my favorite records this year—The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, jj, Camera Obscura, Dirty Projectors, Cass McCombs, Bill Callahan—are all Best New Music albums on Pitchfork. Is this the year I officially become out of touch? Or has music just really sucked that bad this year?

Mrs. Bea’s, where I spent most of my SXSW this year. Bands seen at this freaking awesome venue include TacocaT, Titus Andronicus, the Splinters, Ponytail, Micachu, HEALTH, and some others that I’m sure I’m forgetting.
