I just realized that most of my favorite records this year—The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, jj, Camera Obscura, Dirty Projectors, Cass McCombs, Bill Callahan—are all Best New Music albums on Pitchfork. Is this the year I officially become out of touch? Or has music just really sucked that bad this year?
